๐ฅ What is an Air Fryer?
An air fryer is a countertop convection oven. It circulates hot air at high speed around food, creating a crispy outer layer similar to deep frying โ but with little to no oil.
๐ Why Lower the Temperature?
Air fryers are smaller and more efficient than ovens. The hot air is concentrated, so food cooks faster and can burn if the temp is too high. Dropping 25ยฐF (15ยฐC) prevents burning while still getting crisp.
โฑ๏ธ Why Less Time?
Because the air circulates directly around the food (not just from one direction), heat transfer is much more efficient. Most recipes need about 20% less time in an air fryer.
๐ Why Flip Halfway?
Even with circulating air, the side touching the basket cooks differently. Flipping or shaking ensures even browning and crispiness on all sides.
